Prof. Nguyen Thanh Thuy, PhD. is Head of the Key Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence (AI), VNU University of Engineering and Technology. He is Deputy Director of the National R&D Program KC4.0/2019-2025 (Ministry of Science and Technology). He received PhD. degree in 1987.
Professor Nguyen Thanh Thuy’s courses and RD activities in AI are done at the Hanoi University of Science and Technology from 1987 to 2011, and at VNU University of Engineering and Technology from 2011 till now. His AI research interests are mainly in: Knowledge systems, Soft-computing, Data mining, Machine learning, Hybrid Intelligent systems.

Huynh Thi Thanh Binh

Huynh Thi Thanh Binh is Associate Professor and Vice Dean of the School of Information and Communication Technology (SoICT), Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST). She is Head of Modeling, Simulation and Optimization Lab (MSO). She is member of the Technical Committee on Computer Science and Information Technology, The National Foundation for Science and Technology Development - NAFOSTED (2019-2021).
Her current research interests: Artificial Intelligence, Algorithms and Optimization, Computational Intelligence, Memetic Computing, Evolutionary Multitasking.
She has published more than 100 papers, including 30 ISI papers and some high-ranking conference papers in the field of Computational Intelligence.
Binh and her team won the First and Second prize at Multi-task single-objective optimization (MTSOO), Competition on Evolutionary Multi-task Optimization, 2018 and 2020 IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence (WCCI), Third prize at Competition on Electric Vehicle Routing Problem, WCCI 2020.
She has served as a regular reviewer of numerous prestigious academic journals and conferences, such as IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, Swarm and Evolutionary Computation, Applied Soft Computing, Memetic Computing...

Nam Thoai

Nam Thoai is Associate Professor with HCMUT. He received his Ph.D. from Johannes Kepler University of Linz, Austria. He is the founder and director of the High Performance Computing Lab at HCMUT. His research includes high performance computing, high performance data analytics & AI, cloud computing, and network protocols. Currently, his projects are studying performance of HPC systems using VMs/Dockers and Xeon Phi/GPUs, HPDA&AI, Deep learning on Xeon Phi/GPUs, IoTs for Smart cities and Telco CDNs.
He has been the Dean of Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) from 2007 to 2018. The CSE Faculty has two programs Computer Science and Computer Engineering following ABET accreditation. He is also served as the Research Chair of the HCMC ICT research program supporting Smart Cities and Industry 4.0 during period 2018 - 2023.

Hung Bui

Director of VinAI Research, VinGroup

Dr. Hung H. Bui is the Director of VinAI Research, VinGroup, Vietnam. His technical expertise and interests include probabilistic graphical models, deep generative models, Bayesian inference and machine learning, especially models for sequential and relational data with applications in human activity/intent recognition, video understanding and natural language processing. These interests center around the challenging problem of how to make the machine better understand the humans - a problem that plays a central part in intelligent assistive technologies, personal assistance and dialogue management.
Before joining VinAI, he was at Google DeepMind, Adobe Research and Nuance Natural Language Understanding Lab, and also spent almost 10 years at the AI Center, SRI International (formerly Stanford Research Institute) where he led the multi- institution research team in developing probabilistic inference technologies for understanding the user activities during the CALO project (at the time, the largest AI project in history, also known as the project that spun off Siri). Going further back in time, he was an assistant professor at Curtin University, Australia (2000 - 2003), Ph.D. graduate in computer science (Curtin, 1998).

Dr Dao Viet Hang graduated from the Hanoi Medical University in 2011 and got her PhD degree in 2016. Hang is an experienced gastroenterologist and endoscopist, and a lecturer at the Hanoi Medical University. She is interested in gastrointestinal endoscopy, motility disorders, liver cancer, and viral hepatitis treatment.
She is now the Vice General Secretariat of Vietnam Association of Gastroenterology and Vice Director of Endoscopic Centre, Hanoi Medical University Hospital. An active and enthusiastic scientist, she would like to expand her research network and contribute to the improvement of GI endoscopy training in Vietnam.

Yoshua Bengio is recognized as one of the world’s leading experts in artificial intelligence and a pioneer in deep learning.
Since 1993, he has been a professor in the Department of Computer Science and Operational Research at the Université de Montréal. CIFAR’s Learning in Machines & Brains Program Co-Director, he is also the founder and scientific director of Mila, the Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute, the world’s largest university-based research group in deep learning.
In 2018, Yoshua Bengio ranked as the computer scientist with the most new citations worldwide, thanks to his many high-impact contributions.
In 2019, he received the ACM A.M. Turing Award, “the Nobel Prize of Computing”, jointly with Geoffrey Hinton and Yann LeCun for conceptual and engineering breakthroughs that have made deep neural networks a critical component of computing.

Dr. Hsu Hui Huang

- Dr. Hsu Hui Huang (許輝煌) was a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering at Tamkang University. He was also the President of Association for Artificial Intelligence (TAAI) from February 2017 to January 2019. Prof. Hsu received his Ph.D. and M.S. Degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Florida, USA.
- Prof. Hsu has published over 150 referred papers in international journals and conference proceedings. He also edited a book titled Big Data Analytics for Sensor- Network Collected Intelligence published by Elsevier, USA in Feb. 2017. He has worked in the areas of machine learning, data mining, ambient intelligence, bio-medical informatics, and multimedia processing.

Lam Thu Bui

Lam Thu Bui currently is an Associate Professor in Computer Science, Le Quy Don Technical University (LQDTU), Hanoi, Vietnam. He was the Dean of IT Faculty of LQDTU. He received the Ph.D. degree in computer science from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia, in 2007. He did postdoctoral training at UNSW from 2007 until 2009. He is doing research in the fields of artificial intelligence and evolutionary computation. He is the co-editor of the book Multi-objective Optimization in Computational Intelligence: Theory and Practice (IGI Global Information Science Reference Series); and the General Chair of the Ninth International Conference on Simulated Evolution and Learning - SEAL2012. Prof. Bui is a member of the Editorial Board, International Journal of Computational Intelligence and Applications (IJCIA), and was the Vice-Chair of the Evolutionary Computation Technical Committee (ECTC), IEEE Computational Intelligence Society.

Prof. Vu Ha Van

Scientific Director of Vingroup Big Data Institute (VinBigdata)

Prof. Vu Ha Van is currently Scientific Director of Vingroup Big Data Institute; he is also Professor of Mathematics at Yale University. Joined Vingroup since 2018, Prof. Van was one of the first people laid the foundation for Vinbigdata’s establishment; aiming at turning VinBigdata into the leading Data and Science-Technology research center in Vietnam whose mission is "Technology empowers the future".
Vu Ha Van received his Ph.D. at University of Yale in 1998, then worked as a postdoc at Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) and Microsoft Research from 1998 to 2001. In terms of honors, Prof. Vu Ha Van won the Sloan fellowship and NSF Career Award for young scientists in the US within 2002. In 2006, Prof. Van with Prof. Terence Tao published the book named Additive Combinatorics; and along with Prof. Jean Bourgain to organise a research program focusing on this topic at IAS (Princeton). In 2008, Prof. Van was awarded the Pólya Prize of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) for his work on concentration of measure. Four years later, he was awarded the Fulkerson Prize (jointly with Anders Johansson and Jeff Kahn) of American Mathematical Society (AMS) for determining the threshold of edge density above which a random graph can be covered by disjoint copies of a given smaller graph. Also in 2012, he became a fellow of this organisation. In May 2020, Prof. Van became the fellow of Institute of Mathematical Statistics, USA. He had presentations at the International Congress of Mathematicians – ICM (Seoul, 2014) and World Statistics Congress – WSC (Istanbul, 2012).

Le Thanh Ha

Mr. Le Thanh Ha is an Associate Professor in University of Engineering and Technology, Vietnam National University. He his now the head of HMI Laboratory (https://hmiuet.wordpress.com/).
His research interests in Computer science include Digital signal processing, Digital image processing, Computer Vision, Multimedia communication and Machine learning. He has been the principle investigators of many international, government and industrial research projects such as Image recognition for mobile and surveillance cameras, reinforcement learning for vision-based mobile robot navigation, multimedia tools for preservation and promotion of intangible heritage, eye tracking and electroencephalogram signal processing for serve moto disabilities.
He has also been principle and main investigator of many fundamental research and technology development projects funded by both domestic and international organizations. He also makes contributions in serving many domestic and international ICT academic conferences including KSE, NICS, ATC, SoICT, ICEIC, AI4Life… In addition, he is member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE) and many other international & domestic scientific conferences.

Associate Professor Nguyen Viet Nhung, MD., PhD serves as Director of National Lung Hospital, Manager of Vietnam NTP, President, Vietnam Lung Association and Member of newly established National Commison on Ending TB of Viet Nam.
He has been appointed to be a member of WHO's Strategic and Technical Advisory Group for Tuberculosis (STAG-TB) in Geneva scince 2016. Dr. Nhung has been principal investigator of many local and international research projects in TB and Lung diseases, including the first TB prevalence survey in the year 2006-2007, the second one in the year 2017, clinical trials TBTC and ACT3 in Viet Nam.

Ta Hai Tung is Associate Professor of Information Technology at School of Information and Communication Technology (SoICT), Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST). He received the PhD in Information and Communication Technologies, specializing in satellite navigation, from Polytechnic University of Turin (Politecnico di Torino - Polito, Italia) in 2010. In 2009, he was with Satellite Navigation & Positioning Laboratory (SNAP Lab), University of New South Wales. From 2/2010 to 2/2011, he worked as a PostDoc fellow at Electronics Department of Polito. At HUST, since 11/2003, he has been the lecturer of SoICT HUST. In addition, from 11/2011 to 11/2018, he was the Director of the International Collaboration Center for Research and Development of Satellite Navigation Technology in South-East Asia (NAVIS Centre), Hanoi, Vietnam. Since November 2018, Prof. Tung has been the Dean of SoICT. In addition, he has been the Co- Chair of MultiGNSS Asia (two terms: 2016 – 2018, and 2018 – 2020), which is the largest professional organization on satellite navigation in Asia and Oceania region. In December 2013, Dr. Tung was awarded as one of TOP 10 young scientists of Vietnam in 2013. In November 2015, he led the team to win the 1st prize of the Vietnam Talent Award on Information Technology Products – the most prestigious award on IT contest in Vietnam.

Dr. Nguyen Quy Ha

Head of Medical Image Department Vingroup Big Data Institute

Dr. Nguyen Quy Ha is currently Head of Medical Imaging Department, Vingroup Big Data Institute (VinBigdata). Joined VinBigdata from 2018, Dr. Ha with his colleagues of nearly 30 researchers, carry on collecting, processing, and analysis of medical imaging based on data, in order to solve practical and urgent problems at hospitals in Vietnam. Graduated with a Ph.D. at the University of Illinois, United States, he had over 03 years working experience under Postdoc position at EPFL, Switzerland. After returned to Vietnam, he has focused on computer vision and participated in building and developing algorithms based on image processing and deep learning. At VinBigdata, Dr. Ha laid the foundation for the Medical Imaging Department, along with the research team to develop VinDr - A comprehensive AI solution for medical imaging. The solution has been piloted in 03 major hospitals nationwide since June 2020.

Dr. Trinh Dinh Hoan, received the B.S. degree from the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and the M.S. degree from the Hanoi Institute of Mathematics in 2005, and 2008, respectively.
In 2013, he received Ph.D. degree in applied mathematics (in signal and image processing) from the Laboratoire Analyse, Géométrie et Applications, Université Paris 13, France.
From 01/2008-12/2009, he was a researcher with the Institute of Mathematics, Hanoi, Vietnam.
From 01/2015--5/2016, he was a principal engineer with the Viettel Research and Development Institute.
From 05/2016 to 09/2019, he was a post-doctoral researcher with the Centre de Recherche en Automatique de Nancy, Université de Lorraine, France.
From 09/2019-10/2020, he was a researcher with the Laboratoire Imagerie et Vision Artificielle (ImViA), Université de Bourgogne, France.
He currently works as an expert in AI and Computer Vision for the Viettel Cyberspace Center.
His research interests include AI, image processing, computer vision, medical imaging, and applied mathematics.

Dr. Do Van Hai

The expert in speech processing, Cyberspace Center, Viettel Group

Dr. Do Van Hai is an expert in speech processing at the Cyberspace Center, Viettel Group, and a lecturer at the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering, Thuyloi University. He received his Ph.D. in computer science from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore in 2015. From 2012 to 2013, he was a visiting researcher at the International Computer Science Institute (ICSI), Berkeley, USA working on development of speech keyword search systems. From 2015 to 2017, he was a post-doctoral researcher at the Advanced Digital Sciences Center, a Singapore-based research center established by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore. At ADSC, he built speech recognition systems for under-resourced languages. In 2017, Dr. Hai returned to Vietnam and with his colleagues at the Viettel Group to build Vietnamese speech recognition and speech synthesis systems. These products have been widely used such as the monitoring system for customer service call centers, automatic call centers (CallBot), meeting notes, audio newspaper systems.

Dr. Dongwha Kum is currently the President of Vietnam - Korea Institute of Science and Technology (VKIST), a new model of research institute focusing on industrial technology under Ministry of Science and Technology.
Dr. Kum graduated from Seoul National University majoring in Metallurgical Engineering, then prolonged his educational career as Ph.D. in Materials Science & Engineering and Post-doctoral Research Fellow at Stanford University (USA). His fields of research and specialty areas include Deformation behavior of materials, Thin film synthesis and Advanced Materials Characterization. Besides, he has a wide breadth of experience in S&T policy and management; specifically, extensive experience in R&D program management in institutional & national levels, and strong involvement in S&T policy in various Government committees and professional organizations.
Dr. Kum has published 47 scientific papers, 45 presentations in technical meetings, 7 patents, 30 R&D reports and 2 books (edited). In addition, Dr. Kum participated in various local and international conferences with different roles (Chairman, member of Advisory Board, plenary speaker), including PRICM6 (International Conference on Advanced Materials Pacific Rim), APC9 (Asia-Pacific Microscope Conference), THERMEC (National Conference on processing and manufacturing of advanced materials), and S&T events in Vietnam (2004), Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka (2006), Nepal (2008), Myanmar (2010) and Ethiopia (2012).

In 2007, Dr. Vu Hai Quan took many important positions in VNUHCM, such as a Vice-Rector of the University of Science, Director of the International Training & Education Center (ITEC), and Head of the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (AILab) at the University of Science. His team announced the “Southern Voice” software - a speech synthesis software based on the phonetic unit pairing method. Immediately, this software attracted the attention of the community, especially after receiving the Third Prize - Vietnam Talent Award 2009. In addition, Dr. Vu Hai Quan is also the founder of the Robotics-IoT Club of AILab Laboratory. His research interests are about AI, particularly including: Acoustic Modeling, Language Modeling for LVCSR; Corpus Developments (audio & text); Audio, Music Retrieval; Speech Translation. He has published various articles on international journals and participated in many academic research projects. He won two-time Vietnamese Talent Awards for the TTS and the Automatic Speech Recognition systems.
